Highlights of the Sherlock Holmes WalkStep back in time and explore the London of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. It is 1895 a time of Hansom cabs rattling along cobbled streets, foggy lanes and gas-lit alleys. A romantic, yet sinister London, at the height of her Imperial greatness. Each site that is visited on this Walk has a major literary connection with our two heroes and their adventures. Explore the famous Baker Street area and visit the most likely site for 221b Baker Street as well as the Empty House where an attempt was made on Sherlock Holmes life. Visit many of our hero's favourite places including Harley Street, Royal Opera House, Criterion Restaurant, Nevilles Turkish Baths and the famous Café Royal and Langham Hotel. Be guided along the Strand to many of the Victorian buildings often mentioned in their adventures including Charing Cross Station, Lowther Arcade, Scotland Yard and Simpsons In The Strand. See where Moriarty tried to have Holmes murdered and the house where Conan Doyle had his unsuccessful medical practice as well as the original offices of the Strand Magazine. Visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum and the Memorabilia Company. Then to finish, why not wash it all down with a pint of Sherlock Holmes Ale and a meal in the famous Sherlock Holmes Pub? |
